Carr Realty Advisors LLC (CRA) is a Chicago based real estate company specializing in all facets of commercial and residential real estate.  CRA is an expert in complex projects with hands on experience in mixed-use projects, office buildings, urban retail, community shopping centers and regional malls. Led by its founder, Joey Carr, CRA has over 15 years of experience in all facets of real estate.

Prior to forming CRA, Joey worked at two companies that would forever shape his real estate career. Having experienced the many highs and lows that come through a real estate cycle, Joey has learned first hand the need to always make decisions for the best long-term needs of assets.

At AEW Capital Management in Boston, he started as an Asset Management Analyst in the retail separate accounts group. The fundamentals of real estate can be understood by financial analysis and this is where Joey got his start. Many years later, Joey still utilizes these skills when approaching all of CRA client’s needs. Later, Joey rose to become an Asset Management Associate where he served on an asset management team overseeing more than $2B worth of regional malls and grocery-anchored centers throughout the US.

After AEW, Joey moved back to his Midwestern roots in Chicago where he joined Joseph Freed and Associates as a part of a new mixed-use development team.  As a Development Manager and later a Development Director, Joey was a part of several large mixed-use residential and retail developments in the Midwest. While mainly focusing on developments, Joey also fell back on his asset management skills overseeing many of the company’s retail properties as an asset manager. With his skills as an asset manager and developer, Joey really found his niche as a project manager with a keen eye always to appropriate merchandising – a key to all successful retail projects.

Joey founded CRA is 2011 to serve the needs of clients who value third party expertise to help implement their business plan. Specializing in real estate development, asset management, brokerage and advisory services, CRA has created value for retail, office and multifamily properties throughout the midwest.

Joey is a graduate of Emory University and an active member the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC), Thresholds Real Estate Committee, and City Year Chicago where he served as the Chair of the Associate Board.

Chris Facas – Broker

Chris spent the past 30 years building teams, transforming departments and shepherding companies to industry leading performance.  Most recently, he led the asset management, property and operations departments of the S&P 500 company, Macerich, a $20B US real estate investment trust with over $1B in revenue.  Chris managed departments of up to 450 employees, a portfolio of retail and commercial assets with gross leasable area of up to 40 million SF, and net operating income of up to $700M.

Chris bootstrapped his way up the corporate ladder, and though he calls the Midwest (Chicago) his home, he spent decades living on both coasts, as well as managing real estate in most major metropolitan markets in the US.  He spent the first part of his career at field level, leasing and managing retail malls, strip centers and offices in many markets.  He’s experienced at both the regional and departmental levels, managing direct reporting staffs of up to 50, with departmental responsibility of up to 450.  Chris spent many years working with some of the top real estate partner investment firms in the U.S. including The Alaska Permanent Fund, Heitman, Northwestern Mutual Life, JP Morgan, UBS, Simon Property Group, The Taubman Co. and many others.  He has underwritten numerous development and redevelopment projects, as well as served as acquisition/disposition point person on numerous transactions.

Chris launched his own real estate consulting company in 2017 called Stillwater Advisory Group and works with owners and developers nationwide.
